TRIZ in the Development of SIF

Contradictions as Experimental Probes and Architectural Constraints

TRIZ (Theory of Inventive Problem Solving) informed the design of controlled contradiction probes, not a mechanism for automatically resolving contradictions or guaranteeing translation correctness.

The research problem

Technical translation requires flexible context-sensitive language while preserving canonical concepts and protected structures defined outside the translator. General fluency and improved neural training metrics cannot by themselves establish compliance with such requirements. TRIZ makes the competing demands explicit; it does not validate the resulting translation.

TRIZ in experimental design

Corpus A introduced protected technical invariants and Corpus B added semantic anchors and bridges. In Corpus C, contradiction-structured pairs, rings, chains and boundary transitions provided a controlled substrate for representation diagnostics.

Experiments did not support annotated contradiction magnitude (ΔV) as the dominant driver of the tracked response under the tested conditions. Organization and ordering of contradiction-structured material proved more informative. This is a bounded negative finding, not a claim that contradiction magnitude never matters.

Contradictions as diagnostic probes

Inventive search

What transformation could resolve this contradiction?

Diagnostic investigation

What does the system reveal while the contradiction remains present?

Maintaining contradiction under controlled conditions exposes representation and stability limits without claiming resolution. Module 0 explains why a pointwise objective of the tested form does not explicitly control corpus-level ordering, even though optimization trajectories are order-sensitive.

Protocol C (Corpus C, N = 142) recorded a weakest-transition versus mean-degradation amplification ratio of 0.0941 / 0.0416 ≈ 2.26. This is not an absolute 2.26-fold reduction in coherence. Global embedding entropy remained equal to six decimals. The magnitude belongs only to the tested configuration.

TRIZ proposals and Module 5.0 qualification

A separate five-case pilot contrasted TRIZ candidate inventive moves with Module 5.0 class-conditioned diagnostic qualification. It examined measurement range versus precision; averaging time versus real-time operation; shot-noise scaling; calibration invariance versus adaptive control; and classical versus quantum signal-to-noise constraints.

All five cases had NORMAL triggers, but operational recommendations differed. NORMAL means that declared alert thresholds were not crossed, not that every intervention is admissible. For INTERNAL cases, a preference for precision and a hard real-time ceiling can require distinct interpretations; RING, MULTIAXIAL and CROSS profiles impose further trajectory, variant and ambiguity constraints.

The pilot is representation-level. It is not evidence of better generated translations, implemented physical solutions or general TRIZ effectiveness. It is associated with the Contradiction-Conditioned Response Structure research collection, not verified here as a standalone publication.

Representation-level diagnostic qualification can inform whether a proposal warrants further testing. It does not prove output-level admissibility or engineering success.

TRIZ informs candidate transformations, while controlled contradiction probes and Module 5.0 provide bounded diagnostic evidence for their qualification. A proposed transformation is not automatically an admissible or validated solution.

Testing sentence transformations

A distinct six-case EN–UA pilot investigated whether TRIZ-inspired restructuring affected exact technical-label preservation. It must not be conflated with the five-case representation pilot.

Source-verification limitation: the complete original six-case scoring ledger was not available in the supplied research documents. The case-level percentages and aggregate six-case outcome tally are therefore withheld pending source verification, rather than represented as verified translation results.

From machine learning to systems engineering

Early research explored neural training losses and adaptation. Later experiments showed that internal representation effects did not reliably transfer to output and that tested reconstruction methods could not guarantee canonical identity. The question moved from how to train a generator to preserve information to how a system can independently determine whether its generated information satisfies declared requirements.

SIF retained machine learning for generation while assigning admissibility to externally specified verification. The Research Arc details the four controlled hypothesis rejections. TRIZ alone did not cause the transition.

Architectural interpretation through TRIZ

Retrospectively, the separation between flexible generation and independent registry-based canonical control can be interpreted as system-level separation of competing requirements. The generator proposes; the applicable registry defines canonical identities; deterministic inspection evaluates declared structural requirements; and a decision layer records bounded outcomes and evidence.

The architecture was constrained by experiments, not deduced from a contradiction matrix. Its TRIZ interpretation is analytical, not a claim of unique necessity, universal correctness or unrestricted transfer.

Scope, limitations and related research

Diagnostic probing differs from inventive resolution; candidate transformations differ from confirmed admissibility; representation-level observations differ from output behavior; structural checks differ from complete scientific semantic correctness; and empirical findings must remain distinct from architectural interpretation.
